Tom Rice, a paratrooper with the famed 101st Airborne Division, jumping into Normandy on June 6, 1944.
On June 5, 2019 – at the age of 97 – he once again jumped into Normandy, landing near the exact same location he landed 75 years prior.
Sergeant Tom Rice was an original Toccoa paratrooper and served in the 501st PIR (Parachute Infantry Regiment) during Operation Overlord in Normandy and Operation Market Garden in the Netherlands. He also fought in the Battle of the Bulge in Bastogne before reaching the Berchtesgaden to end the war. Tom was wounded four times during his service.
