PFC James P. Grennan
Today we honor and remember PFC James Grennan of the 101st Airborne Division who was killed in The Battle of the Bulge.
One of the worst nightmares that can happen to a soldier during a war is being killed in some kind of accident. It happened to PFC James Patrick Grennan of Baker Company, 1st Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment. He was killed by friendly fire on December 26, 1944.
Another Screaming Eagle had soared to the ultimate height. 🦅
Born in New York City, New York, on April 10, 1925, he died at the age of 19. PFC Grennan left behind his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence J. Grennan, and two brothers, Lawrence and John Grennan.
PFC James Grennan was first buried at a civil cemetery in Bastogne. He would be reburied at the Temporary American Military Cemetery Grand Failly, France, at Section I, Row 10, Grave 246. He rests eternally at the American War Cemetery Luxembourg, at Plot D, Row 5, Grave 12. He was posthumously awarded a Purple Heart Medal.
