Jos Groen

Lieutenant colonel (R) Jos M.H. Groen MSc (1963) began his lifelong military career as a conscript in the Dutch Marine Corps in March 1985, before transferring to the Royal Netherlands Army in 1989. After a two-year training period, he was promoted to second lieutenant, and he spent the rest of his military career as an officer in the Army. LTC Groen deployed to Bosnia (1995), Macedonia (2001), and Afghanistan (2010).

Jos Groen is a professional military researcher specializing in the 101st Airborne Division in WWII. He is the author of several military books in Dutch and English. His first English book about WWII paratroopers was “Three of the Last WWII Screaming Eagles.”

Besides his research and writing, he also contributes to a handful of military focused projects honoring the men and women who served their countries.


Ronald Stassen

Ronald Stassen is an author and professional Battlefield Tour Guide from Maastricht, Netherlands. He leads many tours for returning veterans and their families in France, Belgium, and the Netherlands.

Ronald has befriended and interviewed hundreds of World War II Veterans, ensuring he keeps their heroic legacies and stories alive. He is involved in many WWII projects with an expert focus on the 101st Airborne Division.

James Dalman

James Dalman served six years in the Oklahoma Army National Guard and United States Army Reserve as an 11 Bravo Infantryman. He launched this website as a way to honor the men who liberated his Dutch grandparents and family in World War II. He supports military veterans of all eras and branches.

James is a ‘vetrepreneur’ who runs several digital businesses while traveling the world. He is an author, speaker, and a novice military historian who loves to hear people’s stories about life over a great beer.


Ellen Marchese

Ellen Marchese is a military researcher whose father, PFC Norman Francis Myers of the 52nd Armored Infantry, 9th Armored Division, was captured by the Germans on 18 December 1944, during the Battle of the Bulge, and was a POW in Stalig IV-B. 

Ellen is passionate about keeping the legacies of our World War II Veterans alive and she assists us by doing photographic retouching for many of the photos we use for our remembrance articles.
